The Illinois High School Association season winds down this week with Class 3A and 4A softball and baseball. Supersectionals are today with one area team still alive as Normal West softball faces Lincoln-Way East this afternoon at 4:30 in a Class 4A Supersectional at Illinois State University’s Marion Kneer Stadium.

The CornBelters have become red hot after a struggling start. The Belters beat Frontier League East Division-leading Windy City 10-3, using a seven-run seventh inning to break a tie. Dillon Haupt hit two home runs to increase his Frontier League lead to seven. The Belters have three straight series and six of their last eight games. The Belters are off today and tomorrow before beginning a road trip with a Wednesday doubleheader at Evansville.
The Peoria Chiefs won at Cedar Rapids 9-4.
Bloomington indoor football is in the post-season for the first time since 2012 after the Edge defeated the visiting Sioux City Bandits 48-38 yesterday afternoon. The Edge host the Bandits in the first round on Saturday night.
The Cardinals won the Sunday night showcase 6-3 over the visiting Giants behind a four-run sixth inning. The Cardinals take today off before traveling to Cincinnati to begin a series tomorrow.
Jake Arrieta’s win streak is over at 20 games as the Diamondbacks beat the Cubs 3-2. The Cubs finished the homestand 8-2, but both losses were Arrieta starts.
The Cubs are in Philadelphia tonight as lefties start on the hill, Jon Lester for Chicago and Adam Morgan for the Phillies.
The White Sox lost in Detroit 5-2 as the Tigers completed a weekend sweep. The Sox are off today before returning home to face the Nationals tomorrow night.
